BRAIN-BASED VOCABULARY TEACHING IN ELT
Program Introduction:
Humanity initiated civilization. It all starts with humans, and they are actively in the process since the beginning of the history. Everything has been changed through the active roles that humans took over the course of history. They have made these changes thanks to their ideas, efforts and emotions. To convey the ideas and emotions, at first, they used only meaningless sounds. However, when human needs were expanded, in other words, when there was a lot to understand and talk about, languages emerged. They are the primary units of the human history as they help humans to transfer knowledge, idea, and emotion.
Languages reflected the culture, lifestyle and feelings of a certain civilization. One who wishes to know more about the world needs to learn about the culture, lifestyle and feelings of other people in the world. To be able to do that, he or she needs to learn the language of the people he or she wishes to know more about. Language is composed of sounds. These sounds come together to make words. Words are combined to make sentences and sentences to paragraphs and so on.
In essence, it can be said that words are one of the most important points of the language as they represent ideas, efforts and emotions. To be able to know the words of a language, there are many ways that can be followed. Memorizing them by repeating, writing them for multiple times, listing them and reading the lists regularly to memorize and so on. These have problems in themselves. However, the brain makes the difference and any kind of learning that is constructed within the framework of the brain’s learning principles will reach to success. This study will enlighten academical and emotional impacts of Brain-Based Vocabulary Teaching on young adult learners.
Duration:
This training consists of 3 modules in total and will be completed in 3 weeks on Thursdays at 16.30 - 18.30. The face-to-face sessions will start on 06/10/2022 and finish on 20/10/2022.
Delivery:
The sessions will be conducted face to face.
Assignment Procedure:
During the training, theoretical information will be provided in the first week. Assignments will be given after each week to reflect on the course. To improve the quality of the course, in addition to theoretical knowledge about Brain-Based Vocabulary Teaching, teachers participating the training will be able to design their own practices and materials.

The teachers participating in this training will be able to develop their understanding of Brain-Based Vocabulary Teaching in ELT.

Who should enroll in this training?
Primary, Secondary and High School English teachers who wish to improve vocabulary teaching in their classrooms are welcomed to attend this training. In addition, English teachers who wish to design Brain-Based Vocabulary Teaching practices and materials could find the event beneficial.
Materials and tools to be used in the training:
The materials planned to be designed in this training will be chosen by the participants.
Certificate:
A “Digital Participation Certificate” will be granted to the participants who follow the training regularly and complete their projects throughout the process.
Training Procedure:
Beforethe training begins, a survey will be administered to the participating teachers to determine their practice preferences to teach vocabulary. According to the data obtained, the syllabus of the training program will be slightly adjusted. After the training is completed, remote digital support will be provided with the volunteer teachers.
* Since our training is certified, it is obligatory to attend the training unless a valid excuse is given after the main list is formed.

Bransimiz ile tamamen ilgili bir egitimdi. Eğitimciler gerek insani davranış yönünden, gerekse alan bilgi ve bunun aktarımı açısından çok iyiydi. Yeni programlarda yeniden katılmak isterim. Teori, güncellik, uygulama yönünden gayet iyiydi. |
