This training session explores the role of presence and awareness in effective English language teaching, in alignment with the learner-centered and process-oriented principles of ELTCoT. Drawing on both research and classroom-based experience, the session highlights why teachers themselves need to cultivate awareness in order to support meaningful learning.

Building on insights shared by ELTCoT trainer Dr. Zoe Marlowe, the session approaches presence not only as a personal skill but as a teachable and learnable classroom practice. Participants will examine how awareness supports emotional regulation, attention, interaction, and communication in language learning contexts.

The training includes practical explanations, real classroom experiences, and a structured overview of different types of awareness teachers use in ELT (such as self-awareness, learner awareness, and task awareness). Particular emphasis is placed on identifying unhelpful habits and internal narratives that hinder teaching and learning, and on learning how to consciously reshape these narratives to create calmer, more focused, and more meaningful language classrooms.
